With offices in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and in Riyadh, the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC) serves as the premier authority on economic opportunities for U.S. and Saudi business communities. To facilitate the formation of lasting business relationships, the USSABC provides a wide range of networking opportunities and programs aimed to connect prominent corporate leaders in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. These programs include:
CONFERENCES & SEMINARS: As a part of the Business Council’s effort to strengthen bilateral business relations, the USSABC hosts high-level conferences and seminars that bring together leaders from various economic sectors to discuss emerging industry developments and opportunities for investment.
The U.S.-Saudi Business Opportunities Forum, the Business Council’s most recent conference, co-hosted with the Committee for International Trade, was held in Atlanta, Georgia, December 5-7, 2011. The Forum drew more than 1,100 U.S. and Saudi leaders from the public and private sectors and featured Davos-style panels, keynote addresses, and concurrent breakout sessions.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MISSIONS: The USSABC leads delegations of U.S. businesses to Saudi Arabia to meet senior-level government officials and executives of prominent private sector companies. The business development missions, either regionally focused or industry-specific, aim to explore emerging trade and investment opportunities for U.S. and Saudi companies and improve trade relations between the two countries.
For each mission, the Business Council arranges one-on-one meetings between U.S. participants and prospective business partners in the Saudi private sector. Program itineraries will also include market briefings, private receptions, and admission to regional trade shows. The USSABC Trade Missions are an effective channel for U.S. companies to enter the Saudi market or expand existing operations inside the Kingdom.
STATE PROGRAMS INITIATIVE: The Business Council seeks to strengthen the business relationship between Saudi Arabia and individual states in the U.S. through strategic alliances between the Business Council and state trade and investment offices. The USSABC holds agreements with the State of Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the State of Oregon. In addition, the Business Council works collaboratively with a number of other states to increase trade with the Kingdom.
Through these strategic alliances, the USSABC represents the interests of the various states in their efforts to develop exports to the Kingdom. The Business Council will work directly with companies from the states to answer numerous requests that range from assessing company marketability to identifying potential business partners in Saudi Arabia. In addition, the USSABC leads state trade missions to the Kingdom comprised of U.S. company representatives specific to each state.
BUSINESS ROUNDTABLES: The USSABC hosts exclusive business roundtables for members of the Business Council that serve to generate discussion on a number of issues affecting bilateral investments, specific industries, and the overall relationship between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. The USSABC hosts key government and private sector officials in order to provide Business Council members the opportunity to gain insider perspective on issues pertinent to their fields of business.
RECEPTIONS & DINNERS: To welcome government officials and business delegations, the Business Council hosts formal receptions and dinners, which provide networking opportunities with high-level officials and senior executives. Receptions are often hosted in conjunction with major international trade shows, while dinners honor leading Saudi Government officials during their visits to the U.S.
TRADE SHOWS: In order to promote the numerous opportunities for investment in Saudi Arabia, the USSABC regularly exhibits at major international trade shows throughout the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. Trade shows include the Offshore Technology Conference, Power-Gen International, and others. The trade shows enable the Business Council to promote key sectors in the Saudi economy, member companies, and the collaboration between U.S. and Saudi businesses.
U.S.-SAUDI BUSINESS DIALOGUE: The U.S.-Saudi Business Dialogue is a forum designed to complement the ongoing U.S.-Saudi Arabia Strategic Dialogue, an initiative established by President George W. Bush and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud (then Crown Prince) in April 2005. Through the Dialogue, the USSABC facilitates the exchange of member companies’ views on matters pertaining to the bilateral relationship. The Council submits recommendations to the U.S. and Saudi Governments.
