President Obama Makes First Middle East
Visit to Saudi Arabia
U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Riyadh Wednesday, June 3, for his first official visit to Saudi Arabia. The trip to the Kingdom was the first stop on the President’s tour of the Middle East, the highlight of which was his June 4 speech in Cairo, Egypt. Mr. Obama chose to begin the trip in Saudi Arabia, however, because he hoped to “come to the place Islam began and to seek his majesty’s council.” The U.S.-Saudi Arabian relationship remains a cornerstone of American policy in the region. Commerce and Industry in Seattle
On May 27, 2009, the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC) hosted a private reception and dinner honoring His Excellency Abdullah Zainal Alireza, Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the Columbia Tower Club in Seattle, Washington. Goettsch Partners Designs KAFD Hotel
Goettsch Partners, a Chicago-based architecture firm and member of the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC) since 2006, was recently selected to design a new $130-million luxury hotel in the developing King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh. The project is in the hands of developer Rayadah Investment Company, with local firm Omrania & Associates providing architectural and engineering advice. Rayadah nominated Saudi Oger Ltd. to be the contractor on the project, and Saudi Oger, in turn, selected Goettsch Partners to design the new building. More...
