January 30, 2011 - Saudi Kayan Petrochemcial Company, a subsidiary of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, has signed an agreement with Saudi Acrylic Acid Co. (SAAC) and a joint venture between U.S. company The Dow Chemical Corporation and Saudi Aramco to build a $480 million (SR1.8 billion) n-Butanol plant in Jubail. The three partners will hold an equal 33.3 percent stake in the plant and will share costs. The plant is expected to have an annual capacity of 330,000 tons of n-Butanol, with production scheduled to begin by the end of 2014. SAAC will be in charge of the plant’s operation.
