September 14, 2009 – Saudi Aramco has awarded a communications contract to Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation covering its 900,000 barrels per day (bpd) Manifa oil field project. The contract will cover the engineering, procurement, and construction of communications systems for the Manifa field. In addition to the 900,000 bpd of Arabian Heavy crude, Manifa oil field is expected to produce 120 million cubic feet a day of sour gas, 50,000 bpd of condensate, and 950,000 bpd of water. Sumitomo also won a $200 million (SR750 million) communications package on Aramco’s planned 400,000 bpd Jubail export refinery in June.
