Shoaibi Group, U.S. Company Install First Rigless ESP String

February 21, 2012 - Suhayl Bin Abdul Mohsin Al Shoaibi & Sons Holding Co. Ltd. (Shoaibi Group) has assisted U.S. oil and gas technology company Artificial Lift Company (ALC) in successfully installing the first rigless electrical submersible pump (ESP) string in the Middle East. The system was installed at one of Saudi Aramco’s fields and is comprised of a 134 horsepower rigless ESP with a 6,000 barrel-per-day pump. ALC provided permanent magnet motors and a wet connect system, as well as installing a downhole ESP gauge and packer in addition to assembling a subsurface safety valve. The rigless ESP technology provides significant benefits including cost savings on rig utilization and electricity expenditures, decreased downtime, and decreased oil deferment. Shoaibi Group hopes to collaborate further with ALC to install the system in other fields throughout the Middle East.
