April 17, 2011 – Saudi Arabian Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah signed a contract with Riyadh-based Al-Bawani Co. (Al-Bawani) to build the new headquarters for the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) in the Eastern Province. The new facility, which will cost $12.8 million (SR48 million), will serve 80,000 medics and paramedics in the region. The deal stipulates that the facility, which will cover 164,338 square feet (15,267 square meters), should be complete in 22 months. SCHS is a self-funded organization created by royal decree and designed to develop professional skills in the healthcare field. The commission has 14 branches throughout Saudi Arabia.
