Kingdom Holding to Launch News Channel with FOX Network
July 7, 2010 – Kingdom Holding Co., owned by H.R.H Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, recently announced its plans to launch an Arabic language news channel in partnership with the FOX News Network (FOX). Jamal Khashoggi, former editor of the Saudi Al Watan newspaper, will head the 24-hour broadcast channel. The news channel will be run by Rotana Media Group, also owned by Prince Alwaleed, and is expected to compete with existing Arab media outlets, such as Al Jazeera and Al-Arabiya. Earlier this year, News Corp., which owns FOX, bought a 9.1 percent stake in Rotana in order to initiate the deal.
