ABB Wins Contract with SEC
June 30, 2010 – ABB recently won a contract with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to design, supply, install, and commission a power substation near the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh. The contract, valued at $89 million (SR333.75 million), also includes civil works and is expected to be completed within 22 months. This project is part of SEC’s planned expenditures of $46 billion (SR172.5 billion) for power generation, $30 billion (SR112.5 billion) for transmission, and $20 billion (SR75 billion) for distribution over the next eight years in an effort to double Saudi Arabia’s electricity output to 67,000 megawatts.
