Zamil Awarded $46 Million Water Project
June 19, 2010 – Zamil Holding Company recently received a $46.13 million (SR173 million) contract as part of a consortium of companies to manage and operate water and wastewater facilities in the cities of Makkah and Taif. National Water Company, Saudi Arabia’s state-owned water utility, awarded the five-year public-private partnership (PPP) contract, which calls for the companies to oversee the development, operation, and maintenance of water networks in the cities. PPPs like the recent Zamil deal are an effort by national companies to increase funding and encourage private company participation in the Saudi economy.
