Zain Installs 4G LTE Network in Riyadh
May 31, 2010 – Saudi Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain) recently launched a new 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) telecommunications network in Riyadh. The project upgrading Zain’s current network began in February under a contract with Motorola, Ericsson, and Huawei Technologies. Riyadh is now the second region in the Kingdom where Zain offers 4G LTE coverage for its mobile devices. The new network, the latest development in broadband services, will provide high-speed and accurate voice and data transfer to Zain customers. This and competing projects currently underway will accomodate the estimated 40 percent of Saudis who industry experts expect will be using 3G and 4G telecommunication networks by 2014.
