GE and KFUPM Launch Fuel Research Initiative
May 25, 2010 – General Electric Company (GE) and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) have announced an agreement to establish a new fuel research center on the university’s campus in Dhahran. The GE Energy Fuel Research Center, set to open later this year, will focus on furthering the understanding of alternative fuels produced in the Kingdom as well as identifying ways to overcome technical barriers and promote the use of such fuels. The program is expected to increase fuel efficiency in power plants and refineries in addition to maximizing the utilization of alternative fuels. Boosting power generation efficiency and decreasing fuel consumption will be crucial in promoting energy sustainability and supporting the Kingdom’s national development strategy.
