Ma’aden Awards Contracts to Fluor, WorleyParsons for Alumina Refinery
May 23, 2010 – Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) recently awarded contracts worth $453 million (SR1.7 billion) to Fluor Corporation and WorleyParsons for its aluminum joint venture with Alcoa Inc. These companies will be responsible for the supervision, engineering, and procurement of the complex’s alumina refinery, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014. Fluor Corporation was also awarded another $177 million (SR663.8 million) contract for engineering works, procurement, and supervision of the construction of the complex’s rolling mill before the end of 2013. Additionally, Fluor Arabia Limited, the Saudi affiliate of Fluor Corporation, won a $64 million (SR277.5 million) for management of services at the complex as well as engineering works and supervision of infrastructure at the site.
