New University Created in Dammam
May 14, 2010 – The Dammam Campus of King Faisal University (KFU) recently split from its parent institution to become an independent entity. The new University of Dammam will fall under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and have its own government-appointed board, becoming the third largest educational institution in the Eastern Province. The split occurred as the Dammam Campus grew larger than the main university, located over 90 miles away in Al-Ahsa. School officials expect the split to increase administrative efficiency while continuing to provide a high level of education for the students.
