Pratt & Whitney’s EcoPower Engine Wash Adopted by Saudia

November 17, 2009 - Pratt & Whitney and Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) recently signed an agreement to expand Pratt & Whitney’s EcoPower engine wash service network to the Middle East and North Africa region. Saudia will operate two EcoPower service center locations, one in Jeddah and one in Riyadh, with the possibility of expanding to other cities in the Kingdom. The EcoPower system will enable Saudia to wash all engine types within its fleet and nearly all models of commercial aircraft currently in service. It will also reduce fuel burn by as much as 1.2 percent, eliminating approximately three pounds of carbon dioxide emissions for every pound of fuel saved, while also decreasing the temperature of engine gas, and thus increasing the amount of time the engine can remain in flight.
