Al-Rashid Wins Border Fence Contract
January 11, 2009 – Al-Rashid Trading & Contracting Company, in conjunction with European Aeronautic Defense & Space Company (EADS), has been awarded the contract for a border surveillance program, which is phase two of the Saudi Arabian Border Guard Modernization Project (Miksa). The contract, predicted to be valued up to $2.6 billion (SR10 billion), involves installation of a radar system along 3,728 miles of the country’s border. Phase two of the project is expected to take three years to complete. In June 2008, Al-Rashid won a contract for the first phase of the project, which includes the construction of a 559 mile fence along the Kingdom’s border with Iraq.
