Saudia Cargo Adds Two Aircraft to Fleet
March 27, 2013 – Saudi Airlines Cargo Co. (Saudia Cargo) received the first of two new Boeing 747-8F cargo planes. That recent delivery is expected to be commercially operational by May 2013 and the second 747-8F is expected to be delivered in June 2013. Officials with the company mentioned that they are looking forward to the lower fuel consumption and additional weight capacity and cargo size that the 747-8F offers over the other aircraft in Saudia Cargo’s fleet currently operating throughout the world.
Once both jets are delivered, Saudi Cargo will boast a fleet of 15 freighters. The new aircraft will operate on the Asia to Europe route and improve shipping service between hubs in those areas. As of March 2013, Saudia Cargo’s network connects the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa with over 25 freighter destinations.
