GE Wins SEC Plant Contract

March 27, 2012 – General Electric Company (GE) has won a contract worth approximately $200 million (SR750 million) to provide steam turbine technology, power generation services, and distributed control systems for a project to convert Saudi Electricity Company’s (SEC) PP-10 power plant in Riyadh from simple to combined-cycle operation. According to the contract, GE will provide 10 of its SC series steam turbines and new balance-of-plant mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as installation, testing, commissioning, and completing the combined-cycle conversion. GE equipment will be shipped in the first quarter of 2013, with services to start in the second quarter of that year. Combined-cycle commercial operation is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2014, with the plant being fully upgraded by the first quarter of 2015.
